Bristol, Rhode Island in the Revolutionary War 1775-1783

Aaron Bourne

Aaron Bourne (1757-1839) was the second child of Michael Bourne and his wife Hannah. He was baptized at St. Michael’s Anglican Church. He worked as a baker. In 1775, during the Siege of Boston, Aaron served in Sion Martindale‘s Company in the Army of Observation. Later in the war, he served in Archibald Crary’s Regiment of Rhode Island State Troops, baking bread for his fellow soldiers. In 1781, Aaron married Ruth Carr. In 1833, his son Nathaniel applied for a pension on his behalf (Aaron himself being “non compos mentis, and unable, from loss of memory, to make his declaration in Court”), receiving $80 per year.
