Constant Church

Constant Church (1758-1836) was the second child of Charles Church and Eunice Peckcom. He was baptized in the Congregational Church. In 1775, he enlisted in Billings Throope‘s Company of William Richmond’s Regiment. He was stationed at Fort Liberty in Newport, and was also deployed to Long Island to capture a loyalist militia force. In 1777, Constant enlisted in Caleb Carr’s Company of Archibald Crary’s Regiment. In 1778, he enlisted in Benjamin Agel’s Company as a substitute for Sylvanus Howe of Petersham, Massachusetts. In 1784, while living Petersham, Constant married Deborah Wheeler. Later, Constant and Deborah moved to New Hampshire, eventually settling in New Paltz, New York. In 1832, Constant applied for a pension, receiving $80 per year.
