Benjamin Wardwell

Benjamin Wardwell (1758-1830) was a tanner by trade. In 1773, he married Sarah Smith. During the Rhode Island Campaign of 1778, he served as a serjeant in the militia company commanded by William Throope. Benjamin and Sarah had two daughters named Lucretia and Sarah. In 1791, Benjamin was commissioned as captain of the militia. He eventually reached the rank of lieutenant colonel in the militia.
