Jeremiah Ingraham (1731-1807) Served as captain of the Bristol Militia from 1770 to 1775. He is listed in official records as a “yeoman”. In 1774, as part of a town-wide effort, he sent a sum of 15 shillings to support the people of Boston (that city’s port having been recently closed by the British). He commanded the militia at the time of the Bombardment of Bristol. He also served on a committee to oversee the construction of fortifications in Bristol. Jeremiah married Rebecca Munro at Saint Michael’s Church in 1754. Jeremiah and Rebecca had five children: Simeon, Jeremiah, Rebecca, George, and Mary. Jeremiah’s house (built circa 1785) still stands in Bristol
