John Fales (1760-1813) was the twelfth child of Nathaniel Fales and Sarah Little. During the Revolution, he served in the local militia company, spending some of that time as a serjeant. He was involved in Joseph Spencer’s expedition in 1777, and the Rhode Island Campaign of 1778. In 1782, he married a woman named Martha (died 1843). John and Martha had 11 children: Charlotte, Fidelia, Timothy, James Gibbs, James, Betsey P., Abby F., Nancy C., Joseph Jackson, Henry DeWolf, and Martha G. In 1838, Martha applied for a pension for John’s service, receiving $20 per year.
