John Smith

John Smith was a diarist who served as a serjeant in Loring Peck‘s Company of Christopher Lippitt’s Regiment during the New York Campaign of 1776. In 1764, he married Sarah Wardwell at St. Michael’s Anglican Church. In his diary of the New York Campaign, he recorded the incidents of everyday campaign life, including being confined overnight after an argument with Captain Peck.
