Jonathan Macomber

Jonathan Macomber (born circa 1752) of Rehoboth married Elizabeth Dryer in 1774. In 1775, he served in Samuel Bliss’s Company of Rehoboth Militia. He participated as a corporal in the Siege of Boston, and reenlisted in 1776 in Paul Dudley Sargeant’s Massachusetts Regiment. With this unit, Jonathan took part in the New York Campaign. He was captured at the fall of Fort Washington, and spent the rest of his enlistment as a prisoner. He later fought at the Battle of Rhode Island. In 1818, he applied for a pension, receiving $8 per month. At the time of his application, he was living in Ontario County, New York
