Loring Finney (circa 1760-1827) was the second child of Jeremiah Finney and his wife Deborah. In 1772, he was baptized in the Congregational Church. During the Revolutionary War, Loring served in William Throope‘s Company of Bristol Militia. Some of his service was with the Bristol Train of Artillery. In 1786, he married Experience Pearse at St. Michael’s Church. Loring and Experience had at least four children: Thomas, Levi Loring, George, and Eliza A. Loring was referred to in official documents as a “yeoman”. In 1794, he was ensign of the militia company. He was a lieutenant in 1797 and captain in 1798.
