Richard Creech

Richard Creech (or Creach, circa 1751-June 13, 1819), originally from Bristol, England, married Elizabeth Blish in Sandwich, Massachusetts in 1771. Richard and Elizabeth had at least two children: George and Samuel. Richard enlisted in 1777 as a drummer in Gamaliel Bradford’s Massachusetts Regiment. He served with his regiment at the Battles of Saratoga and Monmouth. He was discharged at West Point in 1780. At the time of the 1790 United States Census, Richard was a head of household in the town of Barnstable, Massachusetts. Sometime after 1800, The Creeches moved the part of Massachusetts that would later become the State of Maine. Richard applied for a pension in 1818, receiving $8 per month. In 1836, Elizabeth, applied for a pension for Richard’s service, receiving $88 per year.
