Samuel Bosworth (1755-1826) was the second child of Samuel Bosworth and Elizabeth Peck. During the early stages of the Revolutionary War, he enlisted in Billings Throope‘s Company of William Richmond’s Regiment. After this service, he served in William Throope‘s Company of Bristol Militia. Samuel was married to a woman named Tabitha, with whom he had five children: Samuel, Jonathan, Nathaniel, Elizabeth, and Samuel. In 1806, Samuel was an executor of the will of Jabez Gibbs. In 1820, he was a trustee of the Bristol Institution for Savings. In 1821 and 1825, he was the surveyor of revenue for the Port of Bristol. Upon the creation of the Bristol Marine Bible Society in 1822, Samuel was its treasurer. In 1826, he was a director of the Commercial Bank. He also held the office of surveyor in Bristol for many years. In 1836, Samuel’s widow, Tabitha, applied for a pension for his service, receiving $80 per year.
