William Richmond’s Regiment was created at the end of 1775. Their initial goal was to defend the coast of Narragansett bay from the British Royal Navy. At one point in 1775, they served on Aquidneck Island. They were also deployed to New York in 1776. Multiple Bristolians served in this Regiment in 1775 and 1776. In late 1776, Caleb Carr’s Company was deployed to Long Island to capture a loyalist militia force.
