In 1781, Rhode Island’s two Continental regiments were combined into one for the second time. This new Regiment was originally commanded by Christopher Greene, who had previously commanded the First Rhode Island Regiment. Colonel Greene was killed by loyalists in an attack on the regiment’s headquarters in New York. The unit was then commanded by Jeremiah Olney. They served at Yorktown and existed until the end of the war in 1783. People from Warren served in Olney’s Battalion as long as it existed.
