Peter Church (1791-1880) was the first child of Peter Church and Hannah Gay. He was baptized in the Congregational Church. In 1812, he was commissioned as a lieutenant in the third Bristol Militia Company. In 1813, Peter married Ann Bosworth. Peter and Ann had five children: Bradford, William Henry, Emily, Benjamin Bosworth, and Benjamin Bosworth, the first four of whom were baptized on the same day in 1822. In 1814, Peter was promoted to captain. In 1816, he was the second major of the 4th Militia Regiment. In 1817, he was promoted to colonel. In 1826, Peter served as one of the commissioners of the estate of John M. Coggeshall. In 1830, he served on the Bristol School Committee. In 1839, Peter served as a delegate to the Rhode Island Whig Party Convention. Ann died in 1842 and Peter remarried to Mary Munro.
