After the Revolutionary War, the Town of Bristol remained very closely connected to the affairs of its new nation. Many Bristolians, including children of Revolutionary War veterans, fought in the War of 1812 (1812-1814/15). Active fighting was largely engaged in by privateer vessels, though the militia also prepared themselves for a fight.
