Bristol Train of Artillery (War of 1812)

The Bristol Train of Artillery is an independent militia artillery company based in Bristol. It was originally founded during the Revolutionary War as a subdivision of the regular militia company. In 1794, it separated into its own company. During the War of 1812, the Bristol Train of Artillery prepared itself for the possibility of a British attack on Rhode Island. Members met every two weeks for drill, and practiced firing at targets. Near the end of the war, the company decided on a uniform of a blue jacket, blue pantaloons, and round hats.
